EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern Head Coach Kate Drohan announced the addition of graduate transfer Abby Harvey to the Wildcats' 2026 roster on Tuesday.
Harvey comes to Northwestern from Indiana Wesleyan University where she played in 165 games as both a catcher and outfielder, hitting for a career .366 average in four seasons at the NAIA level. A native of Noblesville, Indiana, she earned NFCA/NAIA All-America and NFCA All-Region honors with the Wildcats.
"Abby is an experienced and versatile player who brings a relentless mindset," Drohan said. "Her maturity, offensive production, and passion for the game make her a great fit for our program, and we're excited for the impact she'll have both on and off the field."
Harvey burst onto the scene as a first year with a .366 batting average in 37 games in 2022. She logged multi-hit games in six of her last 17 appearances of the season, which included a run to secure the Crossroads League regular-season and tournament titles and an NAIA World Series berth. She raised her batting average from .273 to .366 in those 17 games.
As a sophomore, she was named a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete and hit .316. In her junior season, which included her first collegiate home run, she finished the year tied for the team lead in triples (two) and hit .292 in 130 at-bats. She also logged 38 hits, 22 runs scored, 19 RBIs, and a fielding percentage of .968.
Harvey delivered a career year this spring as a senior, hitting .426 en route to earning NFCA/NAIA Second-Team All-America honors. She notched career highs in doubles (19), triples (4), home runs (3), on-base percentage (.455) and slugging percentage (.610) while ranking fifth among all NAIA players with 73 RBI. She earned Crossroads League Player of the Week honors in April after driving in a single-game program-record-tying nine RBI against Marian on April 18. At the plate, she also showed impressive discipline, finishing the season with more walks (13) than strikeouts (11).
This year, Harvey was named to the Crossroads League First Team, received an NFCA/NAIA All-Region nod and was a key piece in the Wildcats' Crossroads League regular-season co-championship, finishing the season with a 44-11 record and 31-5 in conference play.
"Northwestern was truly everything I was looking for in a school," Harvey said. "I chose Northwestern because of the unbeatable combination of academics, competitive softball, location, career opportunities, and the family feel of the softball program. I'm excited to grow in all areas of my life and play for a university and softball program that pushes me in the classroom, on the field, and in life!"
Northwestern earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament this spring, which marked its seventh consecutive tournament appearance and its 10th tournament entry in the last 11 seasons. The Wildcats have advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals seven times and made six trips to the Women's College World Series, most recently in 2022.
