EVANSTON, Ill. — No. 2 Northwestern (2-1) faced its first loss of the season in a hard-fought 13-9 contest against top-ranked Boston College (3-0) at Ryan Fieldhouse. Despite a strong second-half surge, the Wildcats were unable to recover from a 6-goal deficit built by the Eagles early on.

The Eagles wasted no time, jumping to a commanding 6-0 lead by the middle of the second quarter. However, the Wildcats fought back, with Madison Taylor scoring midway through in the second quarter to put Northwestern on the board.

Despite controlling the draw (15-10), Northwestern struggled to overcome Boston College's resolute defense, which prevented the Wildcats from closing the gap completely.

In the second half, Northwestern mounted a determined push, spearheaded by Emerson Bohlig's hat trick and Madison Taylor's additional goal and assists. Riley Campbell, Abby LoCascio and Taylor Lapointe all got on the board, but the 'Cats fell short in a back and forth battle towards the end of the game.

Key Performances:

The loss ended Northwestern's impressive 47-game home winning streak, a run that had spanned multiple seasons.

The Wildcats will look to bounce back in their next matchup against Niagara on Tuesday, February 18th at 1 p.m. CT at Ryan Fieldhouse. The game will be available for streaming on B1G+.
