EVANSTON, Ill. - Riding a 21-match win streak in Big Ten competition, the Wildcats added another to the tally, defeating the 37th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers 4-3 Saturday at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center.
"This was a hard fought match," said Head Coach Claire Pollard. "This match was well earned and I'm grateful to have won it. Wisconsin is a solid team and I'm sure we'll see them down the road."
The Wildcats opened the match by winning two of the three doubles for the first point. Singles proved a little more daunting for the 'Cats, as five players were down after the first set.

Five other Wildcats were battling.
Down after the first set at No. 4, senior Simona Petrutiu rallied in the second for a 6-4 win over Katie McGaffigan to tie. Petrutiu dominated McGaffigan in the deciding set, winning 6-0 to give Northwestern a 3-0 lead.
Wisconsin gained momentum, winning at the No. 2 and 3 spots in straight sets, making the team score 3-2 with two more matches in limbo.
Down after the first set at No. 1, junior Marine Piriou was able to control the second set to tie the match. Piriou turned up the intensity and blanked Vanessa Rauh in the third and final set, clinching the match for Northwestern.
