Athletic Training Aide Program
The athletic training aides are undergraduate students enrolled full-time at Northwestern University, working under the direct supervision of an Illinois Licensed Athletic Trainer. Listed below are the basic expectations of our athletic training aides.
Minimum Time Commitment:
10 to 15 hours per week, which usually entails 2-4 afternoons between the hours of 1-7pm
Weekend availability as designated by sport
Morning in-services
Evaluation Procedures:
Athletic training aides receive a performance evaluation at the end of the fall and spring quarters. The supervising Certified Athletic Trainer completes a written evaluation, which then is discussed with the athletic training aide on an individual basis.
Athletic Training Aide Application and Hiring Process
Interested students must complete an application. As part of the evaluation process, applicants are required to participate in approximately four observation sessions in the athletic training facilities. Students are then selected to complete a brief interview with the certified athletic training staff. After the interview process, the staff will review the applicants and select those to be hired based on the number of positions available.
