    2013 Big Ten Championships -- Meet Information

    EVANSTON -- After countless hours of preparation and training over the last 10 weeks, the Wildcats are ready to run down their team and individual goals at the 2013 Big Ten Cross Country Championships hosted by Purdue. The meet will be staged on the Boilermaker Cross Country Course and begin at 10:45 a.m. CT on Sunday (Nov. 4).

    Purdue is hosting the annual event for the first time since 2002. Admission is free for all spectators with a $10 charge for parking in lots adjacent to the course.

    Head coach April Likhite, now in her 10th overall season as head coach of the Wildcats, will be bringing with her a young squad to West Lafayette with seven underclassmen -- all of whom will be make their first career appearance at the Big Ten Championships. Only seniors Julia Buford and Libby Kocha boast previous experience at the conference meet, with each having competed one time in their first three years at Northwestern.



    Kocha owns the fastest 6K competition time this season for the Wildcats with her effort of 21:20 at the Wisconsin Adidas Invite set two weekends ago.

    Four Big Ten teams enter championship weekend ranked in the top 30 in the USTFCCCA National Poll -- No. 6 Michigan State, No. 14 Michigan, No. 15 Minnesota, No. 21 Indiana, No. 28 Wisconsin and No. 29 Penn State -- but the Wildcats will strive to be nipping at the heels of those ranked squads in an effort to improve on their seventh-place showing at the conference meet a season ago.

    "In a big race like the Big Ten Championships, you never know what can happen," Likhite said. "What we need is for every girl to execute the plan that we set for them and to finish the race thinking they ran the best they could that day."
