EVANSTON, Ill. -- After competing in the 10K event at the U.S. Track and Field nationals this summer, former Northwestern cross country standout Rachel Evjen Booth continues to make her mark in elite distance events across the country. Booth recently ran a 1:14.46 in the San Jose Rock and Roll Half Marathon to earn a spot in the U.S. Olympic marathon trials in January, 2012.

Last month, the former three-time Wildcat MVP set a course record as she finished first in the women's division at the Disneyland Half-Marathon. Booth crossed the finish line with a time of 1:15.20, 4:04 faster than the previous women's record at the event.

In June, Booth placed 20th in the Women's 10,000 meter run at the USA Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. She also placed 17th at the 2010 USA Cross Country National Championships in Spokane, Wash., and 14th at the USA 15K Championships in Jacksonville, Fla.

Booth will also run in the upcoming New York City Marathon on Nov. 7.

During her Northwestern career, Booth was an All-Big Ten performer in each season from 2000-2002, earning first-team honors in 2001. She led Northwestern to a berth in the 2002 NCAA Championships and was an individual NCAA Championship qualifier in 2000.
