EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern, ranked No. 5 in the current USTFCCCA Midwest Regional rankings, resumes competition Friday when it lines up for the 26th annual Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. The Wildcats will compete in Friday's 5K Blue Division race, scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. CT.

Northwestern, which a year ago ran in the meet's Gold Division race, will take on a competitive field of 19 teams in the Blue Division, including four squads ranked in the top 25 nationally (No. 2 Florida State, No. 19 New Mexico, No. 20 Notre Dame and No. 25 North Carolina State). Other Big Ten teams in the fold include Illinois and Ohio State.

The meet will once again be staged at Notre Dame's Burke Golf Course, where last year Northwestern's Audrey Huth took second in the Gold Division with a 5K time of 17:26, while current senior Sophie Ewald was second for the Wildcats in 18:07.

Weather forecasts for Friday in South Bend suggest ideal running conditions with clear skies, light winds and a high of 67 degrees. Complete results of the meet will be posted on NUsports.com. For more information on the event, visit the cross country page at UND.com.
