EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern rising sophomore Camille Blackman is set to join the field in the 5,000-meter race at this week's USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. The Longmeadow, Mass., native is scheduled to step to the line on the track inside Drake Stadium at 7:55 p.m. CT Thursday, competing against a field of approximately 15 other collegiate runners.

Blackman owns a career-best 5K track time of 17:22.9, recorded just over a month ago (May 9) during her trip to the Dr. Keeler Invitational meet.

Thursday is not the first junior national competition this year for Blackman, who in February was one of three freshmen to represent the Wildcats at the US Cross Country Championships in St. Louis, recording a 6K time of 22:21.

Site of 104 editions of the prestigious Drake Relays, Drake Stadium is hosting the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the second time in its history. For more information on this week's events in Des Moines, visit USATF.org.
