Whitewater Drake Alternative -- Complete Results

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern spent its Saturday afternoon competing at the Drake Alternative Meet hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, taking advantage of ideal conditions to post several personal-best times.

Freshman Rachel Weathered opened the day with one of those PR times, cutting two seconds off her previous best and winning the 1,500-meter event with a time of 4:41.33. Her classmate Megan O'Brien placed third with her effort of 4:49.72 while sophomore Elizabeth Fierro also posted a career-best time of 4:52.4, nearly four seconds better than her showing one week ago at Northern Illinois.

In the 5K event, rising senior Julia Buford recorded a new personal best and crossed first with a time of 17:28.6, five seconds faster than her previous best of 17:33.4. Freshman Camille Blackman was second in the event with her time of 17:42.

Weathered came back after her stellar 1,500-meter effort to then place second in the 800, posting a time of 2:19.3.

Northwestern also entered a team in the meet's 4x400-meter relay, where Weathered anchored the unit's effort with a 61-second split on the final lap.

The Wildcats will put the finishing touches on their competitive spring track season when they send representatives to this weekend's Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College.
