EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern cross country competed against many of the Midwest's top runners on two fronts this weekend, traveling to Indiana University's Polytan Invitational as well as the DePaul Invite in Chicago. The 'Cats continued their trend this spring of lowering their lifetime personal bests, with NU runners taking first place in the 5K race at both meets.

At Indiana, junior Audrey Huth cruised to a 5K victory with her time of 16:28.83, besting the second-place finisher from Notre Dame by a full 14 seconds. Sophomore and fellow All-Midwest Region performer Lexie Goldsmith set a personal best with her time of 16:54.42, 15 seconds faster than her recent performance at the Alex Wilson Invite.

A slew of Northwestern runners behind Huth and Goldsmith also achieved lifetime personal records in the 5K, beginning with Lauren Neuschel's time of 17:25.77, good for 10th place overall. Junior Ashley Greenwell was 11th in 17:26.24, while senior Sophie Ewald (17:26.91) was 12th and just ahead of Michelle Moriset's personal-best time of 17:31.81.

Sophomore Libby Kocha was Northwestern's lone entrant in the 1,500-meter event at the Polytan, setting a personal record and placing third in the second division race with a time of 4:36.

Back in Chicago, sophomore Nicole Oliver walked away with first place in DePaul's 5K race by crossing in 17:52, while senior Abby Tracy took second with her time of 18:00.91. The trio of Ann Powers (18:27.39), Katie Perkins (18:40.63) and Charlotte ter Haar (18:42.88) finished in succession behind Tracy as the Wildcats swept the top five places.

Freshman Kayleen McMonigal also competed in the 800-meter race, placing ninth in a field of 14.

Complete results from both meets are linked at the top of the page.

Next weekend, the Wildcats continue their spring season with a trip to the Marquette Invitational, while junior Moira Ryan will compete as an unattached entrant at the prestigious Penn Relays.
