Chicagoland Championships -- Complete Results
CHICAGO -- Northwestern took advantage of ideal weather conditions and ran to multiple personal bests at the competitive Chicagoland Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday at the Ted Haydon Track in Chicago.
Junior Audrey Huth posted one of the fastest 5K times both in the Big Ten and nationally this spring with her personal-best mark of 16:30.13. Northwestern's Sophie Ewald placed second and bested her seed time by 13 seconds by finishing in 17:20 while junior Janelle Li-A-Ping also set a PR with a time of 17:26.
Junior Lauren Neuschel (17:38.7) and sophomore Julia Buford (17:49.9) also cut time off of their previous 5K bests while sophomore Nicole Oliver took seventh in 17:41.6.
It was a similar story in the 10K event where sophomore Lexie Goldsmith ran to a personal-best time of 35:42.1 to claim first place, and Ashley Greenwell improved on her previous PR and crossed in 36:41.8. Junior Moira Ryan was third in the 10K with a mark of 36:54.4, a PR that dropped more than 40 seconds better than her seed time entering the meet.
Sophomore Libby Kocha was the Wildcats' top finisher in the 1,500-meter event, setting a personal best with her time of 4:41.2, good for second place. Junior Allegra Mayer, meanwhile, once again performed well in the 3K steeplechase, winning the event in 11:08.7 and cutting 19 seconds off her time from a week ago in the process.
