EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head coach April Likhite has announced the addition of Camille Blackman (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) to her incoming 2012 recruiting class. Blackman is a four-time qualifier for the Massachusetts state championship meet, finishing as the runner-up as a senior in 2011.

Blackman is the 11th member of Likhite's 2012 freshman group and the first from the state of Massachusetts.

High School: Four-year varsity letterwinner in all three seasons (cross country, indoor and outdoor track) ... Four-year qualifier for Massachusetts state meet, placing second in the state as a senior ... Personal-best cross country 5K time of 18:02 ... Named Cross Country Athlete of the Year by Longmeadow in her senior season ... Also a two-time champion in the Pioneer Valley Interscholastic Athletic Conference ... Top outdoor times include a 5:03 mile and a 10:56 Placed first in all regular season races in which she competed in 2010 and 2011 ... Helped Longmeadow qualify for states as a team in 2009 and 2011 seasons ... Member of National Honor Society.
Personal: Born Camille Françoise Blackman ... Daughter of Marie-Hèlene and Gregory Blackman ... Father was a medalist in 1985 Boston Marathon and ran cross country at Centenary College ... Uncle attended Northwestern Law School ... Chose Northwestern over Boston College, Georgetown and Cornell ... Also plays the violin and saxophone ... Anticipated major is undecided.
