Alex Wilson Invite Results | Margaret Bradley Invite Results
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern split its squad to enter in a pair of competitive track events this weekend, with representatives at both the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by Notre Dame and the Margaret Bradley Invite at the University of Chicago.
In South Bend, freshman Andrea Ostenso continued her impressive rookie year at NU with her sixth-place finish in the 3K race. Ostenso posted a time of 9:49.1 and cut three seconds off the 3K time she recorded two weeks ago on the same track at Notre Dame. Sophomore Camille Blackman (9:51.1) and freshman Jena Pianin (9:55.8) were close on Ostenso's heels to finish eighth and ninth, respectively.
Sophomore Rachel Weathered also took on some top competition in South Bend, finishing in the 1-mile race with a time of 5:02.3.
Back in Chicago, sophomore Elena Barham took second place in two different events, beginning with her personal-best mile time of 5:08. She also clocked in at 10:31 for the 3,000-meter race, ahead of her Northwestern teammates Renee Wellman (10:36.2), Ellen Schmitz (10:40.4) and Allison Jacobsen (10:47.9).
Complete results from both meets are linked in PDF format at the top of the page.
The busy weekend of racing represents the last competition of the winter academic quarter for the Wildcats, who will focus now on preparation for their outdoor spring track schedule. The 'Cats are next slated to compete March 28-29 at the WUSTL Invite in St. Louis.
