2013 Big Ten Championships -- Individual and Team Results | Meet Homepage
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A Northwestern roster replete with talented underclassmen competed Sunday at the 2013 Big Ten Cross Country Championships hosted by Purdue. Freshman Andrea Ostenso led the Wildcats in her debut at the conference meet, placing 40th overall with a 6K time of 22:03.5.
The Wildcats took 10th place in the team standings with 264 points, 23 points behind Illinois in ninth and well clear of Nebraska (320), their next closest competitor. Michigan State (43) walked away with the Big Ten team title for the third time in four seasons.
Northwestern also received scoring efforts from sophomore Camille Blackman, who was 55th in the individual standings with a time of 22:22.3, as well as senior Libby Kocha (22:32.0).
Freshman Elena Miller also debuted at the Big Ten Championships and posted a time of 22:37.0, while senior Julia Buford toed the line at the event for the second time in her career and finished one second behind Miller in 65th position overall.

Northwestern's top runners now have just under two weeks to prepare for the 2013 NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 15, at Iowa State University. Head coach April Likhite also will send a contingent to the NIU Huskie Open this Friday, Nov. 8, in DeKalb.
