    Illini Open -- Complete Results Get Acrobat Reader

    CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Northwestern, ranked No. 5 in the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional poll, placed seven runners in the top 10 to win the Illini Open at the U of I Arboretum in Champaign Friday evening. Sophomore Michelle Moriset led the way for NU with her 5K time of 18:30, good for second in the field of 34 competitors.

    With 15 team points for the meet, Northwestern easily bested SIU Edwardsville (60) and host Illinois (65).

    Another sophomore, Julia Buford, crossed in 18:35 to take third in the meet while junior Janelle Li-A-Ping checked in fourth in 18:42, a 13-second improvement on her most recent 5K time.

    Next for Northwestern were senior Sheila O'Neill (18:44) and junior Moira Ryan (18:46), while Nicole Oliver (19:04) and Hallie Busta (19:13) rounded out the list of NU's top-10 finishers.

    Head coach April Likhite and her Northwestern squad will be making a second trip to Champaign in just one week when it competes in the 2011 Big Ten Championships hosted by Illinois on Sunday, Oct. 30.
