TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Taking on a field of the nation's top runners, Northwestern sophomore Audrey Huth ran a personal-best 6K time of 21:10 and placed 41st overall at the Pre-National Invitational hosted by Indiana State on Saturday. NU's score of 570 points was good for 25th in the 40-team field.

For Huth, Saturday marked the third time in four outings this season that she has led all Wildcat finishers.

"Our decision to compete at the Pre-National Invitational gave our very young squad the opportunity to race among many of the top teams in the country," said head coach April Likhite. "Audrey's finish was exceptional for us and puts her in great standings as we head into the conference meet. Overall, we had a good team effort amongst an extremely competitive field."

Sophie Ewald was second among NU runners with a time of 21:50, which bested her own personal-best 6K time of 22:31 set as a freshman at the Pre-Nationals Invite in 2008.

Michelle Moriset led a group of five Wildcat true freshmen at the event, crossing in 22:02. Following Moriset was Orland Park-native Lexie Goldsmith (22:16), Ann Powers (22:20), Julia Buford (22:32) and Libby Kocha (22:43). The event was the first 6K race of each freshman's NU respective careers.

Georgetown won the women's White race with a meet-low 100 points while Florida State took the team crown in the Blue race.

Northwestern's final event before championship season falls on Friday, Oct. 15, when the Wildcats compete at the Illini Open hosted by Illinois. Start time for the race is scheduled for 4 p.m.
