EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern continues and concludes its season-long four-match road trip this weekend with a journey east to take on the Indiana Hoosiers on Friday, Oct. 4 and the 20th-ranked Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday, Oct. 5. Saturday's clash against Purdue will be televised live on the Big Ten Network.
Northwestern went 11-7 away from home last season, with its losses coming at the hands of some stiff competition (13th-ranked Purdue, [rv] Michigan, No. 25 Illinois, No. 10 Minnesota, No. 15 Ohio State, No. 2 Penn State and No. 10 Nebraska). The Wildcats earned at least a split in three of four Big Ten road trips last season with wins away from home coming at Indiana, Michigan State and Wisconsin. The 11 wins away from home were the most for any Northwestern squad since the 1990 season. NU is still in search of its first road win this fall.
On the Air
Friday's match at Indiana will be streamed live on the Big Ten Digital Network and available on Wildcats All-Access. Saturday's match at Purdue marks the first of two appearances for the Wildcats on Big Ten Network this season. Mike Wolf will handle play-by-play duties for the broadcast with former All-America setter Audrey Flaugh providing analysis. Northwestern's second appearance on BTN comes in its next home match against Ohio State on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
Straight to the Top
Outside hitter Stephanie Holthus is continuing her ascent to the top of the list in several all-time NU record categories. After opening the season 10th on the all-time list in kills, Holthus surpassed Lindsay Anderson (2004-'07) against Michigan on Oct. 4 and now sits in fourth place with 1,536 kills. She needs just 10 kills to catch Dawn Reig (1980-'83), who currently sits third. The Burlington, Ill., native also moved ahead of former teammate Madalyn Shalter (2008-'12) and Carmen Burbach (1997-2000) in digs during the Wildcat Classic. The senior has 1,174 digs and ranks 10th all-time in that category. As of this week, she currently ranks first all-time, just ahead of Erika Lange (2000-'03), with 3.73 kills per set in her career.
