EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern returns home to Welsh-Ryan Arena this weekend to host its own Wildcat Classic Friday-Saturday, Sept. 16-17.
Brown, Kentucky and Southern Illinois will join the Wildcats for six matches, beginning at 5 p.m. Friday when Kentucky faces off with Brown. Northwestern and Southern Illinois follow at 7 p.m.
Saturday's action begins with Northwestern playing Brown at 10 a.m. followed at noon by Southern Illinois versus Kentucky. The evening session features Brown against the Salukis at 5 p.m. with NU and Kentucky rounding out the tournament at 7 p.m.

The Wildcat Classic is part of Fall Women's Sport Weekend sponsored by the N Club. Admission to all Northwestern matches is just $2, while all other matches during the tournament are free of charge.
Northwestern is off to its best start to a season since 1997. NU is 41-22 all-time in its home tournament, with all three of this year's opponents making their first trips to the Wildcat Classic.
Northwestern is coming off a Chicagoland Classic victory, its fifth in seven tries at the event. Senior Christie Gardner (West Bend, Wis./West Bend East) earned tournament MVP honors and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week accolades for her play. Junior Cassie McLaughlin (Cary, Ill./Cary Grove) and sophomore Lindsay Anderson (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) joined Gardner on the all-tournament team.
Southern Illinois enters the weekend with a 2-4 record. The Salukis are led by Johannah Yutzy with her 2.91 kills per game and .377 hitting percentage.
Brown (0-4) is still looking for its first win on the season. The Bears are lead by Lauren Gibbs with 3.00 kills per game. Leigh Martin is averaging more than nine assists per game.
Kentucky (5-2) is led by Queen Nzenwa who averages 1.3 blocks per game along with hitting .377 on 2.78 kills per game. Danielle Wallace paces UK with 4.78 kills per game.
