Preseason All-Big Ten Team
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern outside hitter Stephanie Holthus has been named to the 2013 Preseason All-Big Ten Team, the conference announced Friday. This marks the third-consecutive year that the senior has claimed the honor.
Holthus is a two-time All-Big Ten team member and in 2012, she was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America squad. The Burlington, Ill., native has also claimed AVCA All-Mideast Region distinction in each of the past two seasons.
Entering her final season of collegiate competition this fall, Holthus finds her name already dotted throughout Northwestern's all-time record book. She currently ranks 10th in program history with 1,294 kills and 15th with 1,003 digs. Holthus is one of only eight Wildcats to record at least 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career. The NU captain's 4.27 kills per set in 2012 and 4.17 kills per set in 2011 rank as the third and fifth-best single-season outputs, respectively, in program annals.
Holthus, a two-time Academic All-Big Ten award recipient, is one of only five players in the Big Ten to be named to the squad for the third time joining Minnesota's Tori Dixon and Ashley Wittman and Penn State's Deja McClendon and Katie Slay.
