EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head volleyball coach Keylor Chan rounded out his coaching staff for the 2012 season Tuesday by naming Emily Carle as the director of operations and Dan Fabry as a volunteer assistant coach.

"I'm excited that we are able to add both Emily and Dan to the Northwestern volleyball family," said Chan. "They both have great experience in all aspects of the game and they will undoubtedly help our program continue to work toward accomplishing our goals."

Both Carle and Fabry have extensive experience in playing and coaching. Carle most recently served as an assistant coach at Bradley for the 2011 season. As a valuable asset to the staff, Carle was responsible for overseeing several facets of the program including travel, film analysis, recruiting and the coordination of summer camp for the Braves.

Prior to her stint at Bradley, Carle spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Central Michigan. Carle assisted in all phases of video set up and break down, as well as with the development of practice plans and various camps and clinics for the Chippewas. She has also served as a club coach with stops in Texas and Florida.

Carle played collegiately at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. from 2005-09. The two-time team captain garnered AVCA All-America honorable mention accolades in 2008, the same year she helped the Sharks reach the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II National Championship.

Fabry joins the Wildcats after most recently spending 18 months playing professionally in Sweden for Tierp Volleyball Club. Fabry helped Tierp to two of its best finishes since 2005 in the Swedish Elite Series and back-to-back appearances in the Swedish Grand Prix. He has also worked as a coach for the Adversity Volleyball Club in Vernon Hills, Ill. since 2009.

Fabry was a four-time NCAA scholar athlete at Long Beach State. The 49ers were consistently ranked in the top five nationally during Fabry's time on the court. He attended Maine South High School in nearby Park Ridge, Ill., where in 2005, he was named first-team All-State by both the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times. Fabry was also selected as an honorable mention All-American by Mizuno/Volleyball Magazine in 2005.

The Park Ridge, native was a member of the USA Youth National Volleyball Team in 2004 and 2005 and the USA Junior National team in 2006.

The Wildcats open the 2012 season on Aug. 25 against Bowling Green at the Marquette Challenge. NU will conclude the season-opening event against the host Golden Eagles on Sunday, Aug. 26.
