EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head volleyball coach Keylor Chan announced that three more incoming freshman will join the 2013 squad this fall, bringing the total number of newcomers to six.

Kelly Boutelle is an outside hitter from Del Mar, Calif., the same hometown as Northwestern redshirt junior Katie Dutchman. Abby Hofmeister is a defensive specialist who prepped at Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus, Ohio. The third fresh face belongs to Caleigh Ryan, a setter from nearby Glen Ellyn, Ill.

Boutelle attended The Bishop's School in La Jolla, Calif., where she was a team captain and a three-time letterwinner for the Knights. The Californian played with the Coast Volleyball Club for seven years and in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Junior Olympic tournament, she faced off against another incoming Wildcat, Maddie Slater. Starring in the classroom as well, she is an honor roll student and a San Diego Union-Tribune Scholar Athlete.

Hofmeister is a defensive specialist and was a three-year letterwinner herself for the Bishop Watterson Eagles. She has been a member of the Columbus Volleyball Academy for the past three years, placing as high as third in a national AAU tournament. She carried a 4.0 GPA through four years of high school and was named class valedictorian, in addition to being a member of National Honor Society.

The third newcomer of the group, Ryan, won't have to travel far to get to Evanston. The west-suburban Chicago, native was a four-time letterwinner and two-year captain at Glenbard West High School. Ryan is the school's single-season leader in assists and was an All-State performer in 2012 after receiving honorable mention in 2011. She has corralled numerous academic accolades, as well, and is a National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society member.

Boutelle, Hofmeister and Ryan join Slater, Kayla Morin and Rafae Strobos as Northwestern's class of 2013. The arrival of the latter trio was announced on NUsports.com in November. In addition, the Wildcats expect to return nine letterwinners in the fall.
