    Northwestern Takes Second at Wildcat Volleyball Classic

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- The #2 Florida Gators defeated the Northwestern Wildcats 15-8, 5-15, 15-4, 15-4 in the final match of the Evanston Holiday Inn Wildcat Classic to win the tournament title. Florida finished the tournament a perfect 3-0 and is now 6-0 on the season. Northwestern finished second with a 2-1 record. They fall to 6-1 on the season. Virginia Tech is now 1-5 and Kansas is 2-4.

    Aurymar Rodriguez led the Florida attack in the final match with 15 kills and a .467 hitting percentage. Jeni Jones and Nina Foster added 12 kills each. Nikki Shade had 56 assists. Junior Jessica Holloway paced NU with 15 kills and 10 digs. Senior Sharon Fisk had 14 kills, junior Melissa Doan had 13 kills and freshman Carmen Burbach added 16 digs. Junior Liz Renius had 49 assists.

    Northwestern had two players named to the all-tournament team. Holloway and Doan were selected from Northwestern. Kansas' Amanda Reves and Virginia Tech's Rachel Julian got all-tournament nods and Florida had the most selections with four. The Gators' Jenny Manz, Nikki Shade, Aurymar Rodriguez and Nina Foster were all picked. Foster was named tournament MVP.
