    Northwestern Claims Chicago Classic Volleyball Title

    CHICAGO, Ill. - Northwestern dominated the field at the third annual Chicago Classic volleyball tournament, capturing the championship with two impressive victories Saturday at the UIC Physical Education Building.

    The Wildcats opened their action with a convincing win over DePaul 15-4, 15-13, 15-8. Carmen Burbach posted 11 kills and 5 service aces. Jessica Holloway also contributed both offensively and defensively with 10 kills and 9 digs.

    In a losing effort, DePaul's Kathleen Ryan led the attack with 11 kills.

    NU then rode the momentum from its victory over DePaul to coast to a 15-4, 15-3, 15-9 victory over the University of Illinois at Chicago, (UIC).

    NU's Jessica Holloway led the Wildcats with 12 kills and 8 digs. Liz Renius posted 44 assists and was named tournament MVP.

    With the championship, NU improves its season record to 9-2.
