    Northwestern Downs Georgetown

    RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Northwestern volleyball team improved to 2-0 on the young 1997 season with a 3-1 victory (15-8, 7-15, 15-8, 15-8) over Georgetown to open the second day of the Wolfpack Challenge Saturday morning.

    The Wildcats used a balanced offensive attack to cruise to the win, hitting .299 for the match. Carmen Burbach led Northwestern with 14 kills while Melissa Doan and Jessica Holloway added 11 apiece. Liz Renius recorded 46 assists for the Wildcats.

    Northwestern will close out the second day of competition against host N.C. State today at 7:30 p.m.
