    Wildcat Volleyball Falls 3-1 to Illinois

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Wildcat volleyball team dropped to 11-14 overall, 2-12 Big Ten with a 15-5, 5-15, 14-16, 5-15 loss to Illinois on Saturday night in Welsh-Ryan Arena.

    The Wildcats came out hot, winning the opening game with relative ease. NU hit an incredible .692 for the game, with 10 kills on 13 attempts. Illinois stormed back to win game two, and was able to overcome a 12-7 Wildcat lead in game three.

    Four Wildcats registered double-digit kills, led by Melissa Doan's 13 kills. Sharon Fisk added 12 while Jessica Holloway had 11 and Carmen Burbach had 10 kills. Holloway led NU with 12 digs. The Wildcats had a great deal of success at the net, led by Kitty Owen's career-high seven block assists. Fisk and Doan each added three blocks apiece.

    NU returns to action next weekend, Nov. 14-15, hosting Minnesota and Iowa in Welsh-Ryan Arena.
