    Volleyball Falls in Five Games to No. 25 Michigan State

    Doan Notches 18 kills, 18 digs in loss

    EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Northwestern volleyball team dropped another heartbreaker to a top 25 team on Wednesday night, falling in five game at No. 25 Michigan State, 15-17, 7-15, 15-8, 15-13, 14-16. The Wildcats are now 11-12 overall, 2-10 Big Ten. Michigan State improves to 17-7, 7-4 Big Ten.

    Melissa Doan tallied 18 kills, 18 digs and three blocks for the match. The 18 digs is a career best while the 18 kills was just one shy of her career high. Jessica Holloway had 14 kills and 17 digs. Leah Ackerman had 12 kills, 12 digs and three blocks. Liz Renius tallied 57 assists to become just the second player in NU history to record 3,000 career assists. Her career total currently stands at 3,045 assists.

    The NU volleyball team is back in action Fri., Nov. 7, vs. eighth-ranked Wisconsin at 7:30 p.m. in Welsh-Ryan Arena. The Wildcats close out the season with six of their last eight matches in Welsh-Ryan Arena.
