    Wildcat Volleyball Falls 3-0 to Michigan

    Melissa Doan hits .625 with 11 kills in loss

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern volleyball team opened the seond half of the Big Ten season with a 15-9, 15-5, 15-3 loss to Michigan Wednesday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The loss drops NU to 11-11 overall, 2-9 Big Ten. Michigan improves to 15-7 overall, 8-3 Big Ten.

    Junior Melissa Doan led NU with 11 kills and a career-high .625 hitting percentage for the match. Leah Ackerman collected 10 kills and recorded the Wildcats' lone block of the match. Jessica Holloway notched five digs to move into eighth place on the NU all-time career dig chart with 936. Her seven kills now give her 905 career kills. The Wolverines hit .400 as a team, with three players collecting 10 or more kills. Sarah Jackson paced UM with 11 kills and five blocks.

    NU travels to East Lansing, Mich., to face 25th-ranked Michigan State on Friday night at 7 p.m. EST. Following the MSU contest, the Wildcats will be home for two weeks, facing Wisconsin and Illinois on Nov. 7-8, followed by Minnesota and Iowa on Nov. 14-15.
