    NU Volleyball Defeats Indiana 3-2

    Holloway Notches 32 Kills in Victory

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- Jessica Holloway notched a career-high 32 kills as the Wildcat volleyball team won an exciting five-game match Friday night against Indiana at Welsh-Ryan Arena, 14-16, 15-4, 15-8, 6-15, 15-11. The 'Cats are now 11-7 overall, 2-5 Big Ten. Indiana drops to 16-4 overall, 3-4 Big Ten.

    After dropping the first game, the Wildcat offense came alive in game two, hitting .457 (20K, 4E, 35TA) while holding the Hoosiers to just a .152 hitting percentage for that game. The Wildcat 'D' stepped it up in games three and five, allowing Indiana to hit .079 and .061, respectively. The NU offense hit .261 in both games three and five.

    In addition to her 32 kills, Holloway tallied 13 digs and four block assists. Setter Liz Renius collected 74 assists, 19 digs and six kills. Melissa Doan notched 12 kills and a .421 hitting percentage. Leah Ackerman, earning the start tonight, posted an eight-kill, four-block performance. Freshman Carmen Burbach also had 18 kills and 10 digs in the winning effort.

    The Wildcats host top-ranked Penn State Sunday afternoon in Welsh-Ryan Arena. The 4 p.m. match also will televised live by SportsChannel Chicago.
