    Chris Knop joined Northwestern as a volunteer assistant coach prior to the 2006 season. Knop has been involved in volleyball as a player and coach for the past 14 years.

    A graduate of Northern Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in corporate communication and a minor in business administration, Knop was a middle blocker and opposite side hitter for the men's volleyball club team from 1993-97.

    He coached boys' JV and varsity volleyball at Barrington High School from 1997-98 before coaching freshmen and varsity girls' volleyball at the Illinois Math and Science Academy in the fall of 1998.

    Also active in club volleyball, Knop helped start up and served as head coach of the Velocity Volleyball Club girls' 15 and under team out of Niles West High School until the spring of 2006.

    Knop currently is employed by Progressive Insurance, and married the former Gail Froeber in 2007. The couple resides in Chicago.
