Mosolova Featured in ITA Preseason Rankings
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the Campbell's/ITA College Tennis Preseason Rankings earlier this week, in which Northwestern's Maria Mosolova earned a No. 6 singles ranking to begin her senior campaign. The three-time All-American and two-time Big Ten Player of the Year is 109-28 in her accomplished career and, as Northwestern's lone senior on the 2010-11 squad, will be assuming even more of a role as a team leader.
Following a 2010 dual season in which it finished the season ranked No. 7 nationally, Northwestern is tasked with replacing the No. 2 and 3 singles players in last year's lineup, Samantha Murray and Lauren Lui. In the mix to do so will be a pair of juniors, Stacey Lee (18-5 in 2010) and Elena Chernyakova (9-5). Three sophomores who made significant contributions as freshmen -- Linda Abu Mushrefova, Kate Turvy and Brittany Wowchuk -- also will be assuming elevated roles in 2010-11.
