EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's women's tennis team received the No. 11 overall seed and will open its 2013 NCAA Tournament run at home in Evanston as the Wildcats will take on UIC at Combe Tennis Center Friday, May 10.

The match between NU and the Flames is set for a 2 p.m. start, following the opening contest of the day between Baylor (16-14) and San Diego State (22-5) at 11 a.m. Saturday's matchup between Friday's winners is slated for a noon start.

It marks the 14th straight season that Northwestern has been chosen to host the opening rounds. In 12 of the past 13 seasons, the Wildcats have won both their first- and second-round matchups to advance to the round of 16.

Northwestern earned an automatic bid by virtue of winning last weekend's Big Ten tournament in Bloomington, Ind. The Wildcats defeated top-seeded and sixth-ranked Michigan 4-1 in the championship match.

While the tourney title marked the 15th straight year that NU has won a Big Ten crown, the 'Cats will be facing another Chicagoland team with a history of success. UIC (16-5) won its 17th-straight conference title by defeating Youngstown State 4-3 in the championship match of the Horizon League tournament.

Northwestern is 6-0 all-time against the Flames. The NCAA tournament appearance is the 15th consecutive and the 23rd overall for NU.

The winner of the four-team bracket advances to Urbana, Ill., for the NCAA tournament round of 16 on May 17.
