Women's Tennis Defeats Minnesota
'Cats improve Big Ten record to 6-2.
MINNEAPOLIS-- The Wildcat women's tennis team picked up its fifth-consecutive Big Ten win with a 4-3 victory over Minnesota. In addition to three singles wins, the 'Cats captured all three doubles victories.
The No. 1-No. 2 duo of sophomore Katherine Nasser and Shannon Duffy, picked up back-to-back singles wins on the weekend. Nasser defeated Nora Sauska, 6-3, 7-4, while Duffy downed Alice Rangsithienchai, 6-7, 6-4, 6-2. At No. 5 singles, Robyn Porter also won her second match of the weekend with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Jana Hrdinova. Nasser and freshman Colleen Cheng won at No. 1 doubles, sophomore Leigh Weinraub and Duffy at No. 2 doubles and Porter and junior Laura Guignon at No. 3 doubles.
The 'Cats now stand at 11-9 overall and 6-2 in the Big Ten.
