    No. 53 Wildcat Women's Tennis Falls to No. 32 San Diego, 5-4

    SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The Northwestern women's tennis team, ranked No. 53 nationally, fell to No. 32 San Diego, 5-4. With the loss, the 'Cats fall to 6-7 overall, while the Toreros improve to 7-6 on the season.

    With the score tied 3-3 at the end of the singles play, San Diego won two of three doubles matches to capture the final point and the win. NU's Shannon Duffy, ranked No. 73 nationally, defeated Brigid Joyce, 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 2 singles spot. At No. 3 singles, Colleen Cheng downed Mirja Wallmark, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6. Finally, Laura Guignon, at No. 6 singles, defeated Steffi Hesse, 6-4, 6-4. Cheng and sophomore Katherine Nasser won at the No. 1 doubles spot (8-5).
