    Shannon Duffy Wins No. 1 Singles Flight at UIC Flames Invitational

    Cheng and Weinraub Claim No. 2 and No. 3 Singles Championship

    CHICAGO, Ill. -- Freshman Shannon Duffy won the No. 1 singles flight at the UIC Flames Invitational. Duffy defeated Wildcat teammate Katherine Nasser in the championship match, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5. Junior Laura Guignon claimed third place in the No. 1 singles flight by posting a 3-1 record. Her only loss came at the hands of Duffy (6-4, 6-1).

    Freshman Colleen Cheng won the No. 2 singles flight, while sophomore Leigh Weinraub claimed the No. 3 singles championship. Weinraub won each of her matches in straight sets.

    Overall, the 'Cats posted a 19-5 record in singles competition.
