    Cheng and Nasser Capture No. 1 Doubles Title at Eck Classic

    NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Northwestern freshman Colleen Cheng (Hillsborough, Calif/Burlingame) and sophomore Katharine Nasser (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) won the No. 1 doubles title, while sophomore Jennifer Lutgert (Evergreen, Colo./Univ. of Nebraska Independent Study) claimed the No. 6 singles crown, at the Eck Classic.

    The duo defeated Shannon Taheny and Erika Quebe of Purdue, 8-6, in the championship match. Lutgert won four straight matches, including the title match against teammate Robyn Porter (North Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day), 6-3, 6-0, for the No. 3 singles crown.

    Freshman Shannon Duffy (Plano, Texas/Plano) was the runner-up in the No. 1 singles bracket. Duffy fell to Notre Dame's Michelle Dasso, 5-7, 6-1, 7-5, in the championship match. Cheng also won the No. 1 singles consolation bracket.
