    Cohen and Grier Will Meet in Finals of ITA All-American Championships

    EVANSTON, Ill. - Freshman Audra Cohen (Plantation, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) and junior Cristelle Grier (Epsom, England/Putney) will meet in the finals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships at 12:15 PT Sunday, Oct. 10.

    Cohen beat Clemson's fourth-seeded Julie Coin 6-1, 6-4 in today's semifinals, while Grier - the No. 1 seed the No. 1 seed - won by walkover over Florida's Zerene Reyes, who withdrew from the match.

    Cohen will be trying to become the first freshman since Duke's Ansley Cargill in 2000 to win the title She is also the first player from the prequalifying tournament to reach the singles final. She won four matches in the Oct. 2-4 prequalifying tournament, then three more in the Oct. 5-6 qualifying tournament just to reach the main draw, where she has won four more times to reach Sunday's final

    All told, she has won 11 matches in seven days, losing just one set along the way. Last month Cohen beat Grier in the final of the Rice Invitational and with today's win has beat the Nos. 1, 2 and 4-ranked players this season.
