    EVANSTON, Ill. – Senior Nida Hamilton and freshmen Brooke Rischbieth and Maddie Lipp won both of their respective singles draw matches on Friday to earn a place in their draws' final round.

    Hamilton swept her way through the competition, defeating Chalmaa Roudami of Georgia State 6-2, 6-0 before moving on to beat Jamie Grinberg from North Carolina-Greensboro 6-0, 6-3. She will face Natalia Maynetto of Alabama in the finals on Saturday morning.

    Rischbieth also won handily on Friday, sweeping through Amanda Murray of Furman 6-3, 6-0 and Lauren Caballero of Samford 6-2, 6-2. She will take on Skylar Holloway from LSU. Lipp made it three Friday sweeps for the Wildcats, moving past Caroline Faught of UAB 7-5, 6-1 and Tarani Kamoe from Georgia State 6-3, 6-1. Lipp will meet Furman’s Margaret Boyette in the final.

    Five ‘Cats captured first round wins before falling in the second, including Belinda Niu who was matched against No. 53 Klara Vyskocilova of Tulane and came away victorious 6-3, 7-6. Niu was bested by No. 28 Mary Anne Daines 6-3, 6-4 in the next round. All five will play in the third place match in their respective draws.

    In the first round of doubles play, all four Northwestern duos earned victories. Hamilton and Rischbieth narrowly defeated Alex Moreno-Kaste and Katherine Oudin of Furman 8-7 (1). Barnett and Veronica Corning were also in a close match, coming away with an 8-7 (2) win over Ariel Morton and Ella Taylor of LSU.

    Lipp and Niu cruised past Timea Guibe and Roseline Dion from Mississippi State 8-3. To round out the impressive doubles performances, Jillian Rooney and Manon Peri beat Gabrielle Otero and Skylar Holloway from LSU 8-2.

    The semifinals and finals of doubles play will be held Saturday morning along with the finals of the singles draw.
