Seventh-Ranked 'Cats Roll Past No. 43 Ohio State, 7-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 7 Northwestern won all nine matches en route to a 7-0 win Wednesday over No. 43 Ohio State. The 'Cats, now 9-0 in the Big Ten, have shut out five of their nine conference opponents. The win improves Northwestern to 17-4, 9-0 in the Big Ten. Ohio State drops to 17-8, 5-3 in conference. The 'Cats have now won eight-straight duals. Nortthwestern took the doubles point with a sweep of all three matches. At No. 1, the pair of Lauren Lui (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) and Keri Robison (Decatur, Ill./Keystone National) topped Julie Blackmore and Ciara Finucane, 8-5. Senior Alexis Prousis (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and freshman Suzie Matzenauer (Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine) improved to 2-1 as a tandem with an 8-4 win over Sonia Ruzimovsky and Caitlin O'Keefe at No. 2. Alexis Conill (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) and Samantha Murray (Altrincham, England/Altrincham Grammar) defeated Angela DiPastina and Christina Keesey at No. 3, 8-3. The Wildcats did not drop a set in their six singles wins. 38th-ranked Murray downed Blackmore at No. 1, 6-2, 6-2. Prousis took down Ally Mueller at No. 2, 6-2, 6-3, while Lui won her eighth-straight with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Keesey at No. 3. Robison topped Ruzimovsky at No. 4, 6-4, 6-2, and sophomore Nazlie Ghazal (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) improved her singles winning streak to eight with a 6-4, 7-5 win over O'Keefe at No. 5. Matzenauer won her third-straight with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Julie Voss at No. 6.
The Wildcats return to action at 10 a.m. Sunday at Michigan State to close out the regular season. The 'Cats will look to complete their third-straight perfect Big Ten regular season.
