EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 12 Northwestern wasted little time in rolling to a dominating 7-0 home win over Nebraska Saturday afternoon.

The contest got started outdoors at Vandy Christie Tennis Center, but lightning moved into the area just a few games into doubles play, forcing the match to move indoors to Combe Tennis Center.

The Wildcats faced little resistance in cruising to the doubles point. The No. 2 pairing of Maddie Lipp and Nida Hamilton was the first to finish as it rolled to an 8-1 win over Maike Zeppernick and Izabella Zgierska. The matches at Nos. 1 and 3 both neared the finish at the same time and it was the team of Brooke Rischbieth and Belinda Niu at the No. 3 spot that was able to close things out first, defeating Hannah Sulz and Lisa Andersson 8-2.

The dominance continued into singles play as three Wildcats--Lipp, Lok Sze Leung, Manon Peri--didn't surrender a game in the opening set. Meanwhile, Barnett dropped only one game at No. 2 and Corning allowed just two at No. 1.

Lipp was the first to finish in singles play as her 6-0, 6-2 whitewashing of Lauren Wagner gave Northwestern a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Wildcats clinched the match moments later when 34th-ranked Corning took down Maggie Lehmicke 6-2, 6-1 and Peri finished her thorough 6-0, 6-1 victory over Mary Hanna at No. 3.

Barnett managed to close out a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Zgierska at No. 2 and Leung completed her double-bagel 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Sulz at No. 5 to make it 6-0. Jillian Rooney completed the sweep for NU as she rallied back from a set down against Zeppernick to earn a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8) win.

Northwestern returns to action at 11 a.m. Sunday as it closes out home regular season against Iowa. If weather is inclement as predicted, the match will be played indoors at Combe Tennis Center. Corning, Hamilton and Niu will be honored in Senior Day ceremonies between doubles and singles play.
