    EVANSTON,Ill. -- Northwestern's women's tennis team capped off its run in the Wildcat Invitational by going 5-1 in singles action versus New Mexico Sunday at the Combe Tennis Center. The Wildcats recorded victories at the No. 1 through No. 5 positions.

    Freshman Georgia Rose (Mettawa,Ill./North Shore Country Day) got the nod at No.1 singles for the 'Cats, facing New Mexico's Maja Kovacek. Rose got up early and never looked back, defeating Kovacek in straight sets 6-0,6-4.

    At the No. 2 spot, Cristelle Grier (Epsom, England/Putney) topped the Lobos' Nora Quintal by a score of 6-2,6-3.

    Freshman Nazlie Ghazal (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) followed suit by beating New Mexico's Ola Abou-Zerky at No. 3 singles 6-4, 7-6 (1).

    Feriel Esseghir (Sarasota, Fla./UCLA) earned the win at the No. 4 singles spot, defeating Lucy Scott in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

    Senior Jamie Peisel (Savannah, Ga./Savannah Country Day) notched Northwestern's fifth win of the day by topping the Lobos' Mackenzie White 6-0, 6-1.

    Alexis Conill (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) was the only Wildcat to drop a match on the day, falling to New Mexico's Jennifer Ryba 6-4, 6-2.

    With the Wildcat Invitational completed, Northwestern can focus on the upcoming dual portion of its schedule. The Wildcats return to action in Austin, Texas as they face No. 3 Texas at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28.
