    David Mullins just completed his third season as the assistant coach, and was named the 2008 ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year for his efforts and performance this season.

    Mullins has helped lead the Wildcats to at least the round of 16 of the NCAA championships in each of his three seasons at Northwestern. In 2007, he was named the ITA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year. During his stint with the 'Cats, Mullins has posted a record of 77-12.

    His three years of success come after serving on a staff in 2006 that saw Prousis and Grier capture an NCAA doubles title and the Wildcats advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. The 'Cats repeated to the quarterfinals in 2008 for just the third time in their last 19 seasons.

    Mullins went to DePaul for the 2005 season after working in his native Ireland as an assistant tennis professional at Donnybrook L.T.C. in Dublin for two years. With Donnybrook, he worked with elite junior Irish tennis players and also assisted with the Irish National Team.

    Mullins has traveled throughout the world with some of Ireland's top professionals and juniors at various I.T.F. and A.T.P. events. As a collegiate player at Fresno State, Mullins was a second-team All-WAC honoree in doubles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament with doubles partner Peter Luczak where the duo earned All-American honors and a final No. 9 national ranking.

    Professionally, Mullins was ranked as both a singles and doubles player and is a member of Ireland's Davis Cup team. He has played in Davis Cup competition in each of the last three years representing Ireland against Ukraine, Hungary, Greece, Egypt and Slovenia.

    Mullins and his wife, Laura, have one child, Liam. They live in Chicago.
