BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Northwestern women's swimmers currently are in Boca Raton, Fla., on their annual winter training trip. The trip gives the Wildcats an opportunity to focus hard on grueling workouts and team activities to begin the final push toward the 2013 Big Ten Championships.
While in Florida, the Wildcats will be keeping a video blog of their experiences. Check them out at their Training Trip YouTube Channel. To get you started, here is entry No. 1 below; check out the link for subsequent updates!
Competition-wise, NU will jump in the pool against Florida Atlantic on Friday, Dec. 21, for a training trip dual meet. The 'Cats also are holding several fun Holiday-themed intra-squad competitions, the first of which involved making Christmas ornaments from things found around their hotel rooms.
In between workouts on Wednesday, Dec. 19, the Wildcats volunteered at Boca Helping Hands. Several 'Cats helped to pack frozen meats in bags while others put together mixed bags of produce for the local Boca community. Northwestern also adopted a local family through the Hope Rural School, shopping and dropping off gifts for the family before spending time reading to the kids at the school.
