EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern assistant coach Nichole Ellis has been named one of four inductees comprising the IUPUI Hall of Fame Class of 2007. Ellis will become one of 34 members in the Hall at her alma mater, and is only the second member of the women's swimming team to be enshrined.

Ellis set six school records while at IUPUI (1997-01), and was a two-time All-Mid-Con Conference honoree. She was a part of the first ever women's swimming team, and went on to earn back-to-back MVP honors during the 2000 and 2001 seasons. Ellis was just as accomplished in the classroom, receiving the highest academic honor given to a senior student-athlete.

After graduating in 2001, Ellis returned to IUPUI as the top assistant swim coach. While coaching for the Jaguars, she initiated the largest recruiting class the school has ever had. After stints with both Butler and the University of Alabama, Ellis joined Northwestern prior to the 2007 season.

The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place Feb. 2, 2007. Northwestern begins its 2006-07 campaign at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, against California at the Norris Aquatics Center.
