EVANSTON, Ill. -- Both of Northwestern men's and women's swimming and diving teams along with eight individual Wildcats have earned Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), the organization announced Wednesday (July 20).
Both squads won the Scholar All-America Team Award after compiling cumulative team GPAs over 3.0 during the winter and spring quarters. The NU women combined for a 3.48 GPA, ranking them 13th overall out of 98 total Division I teams to win the honor. The Wildcat men's 3.0 GPA made their team one of 48 in Division I to be bestowed the award.
Individually, seven Northwestern women's swimmers and one men's swimmer picked up CSCAA Honorable Mention Scholar All-American status. The award is given to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher and achieved a "B" time standard in their respective national championship.
Liza Engstrom, Jacquie Godbe, Ellen Grigg, Meredith King, Alex Kraus, Jackie Powell and Taylor Reynolds won the award for the Northwestern women while Jake Grosser won for the men.
