EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Shelby Johnson (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) has earned Northwestern's Director's Award, given annually to NU's male and female graduating student-athlete with the highest GPA.
Johnson, a multiple-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, graduated last week with a degree in biological sciences and a minor in psychology. She now will attend medical school at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
Johnson was one of three women's swimmers to earn end-of-the-year awards given by Northwestern and the N Club. She joins Meghan Cavanaugh (Anchorage, Alaska/East Anchorage), who captured the Lisa Ishikawa Award, and Jenny Wilson (Bethesda, Md./Sidwell Friends School), who won the N Club Performance Award.
