    Women's Swimmers Set Three School Records at NCAA Championships

    Finals are Tonight in Minneapolis

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern women's swimming and diving team set three school records in the Thursday's preliminary round of the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis. The 400 medley relay team of Dominique Diezi, Amy Balcerzak, Cathy Lundin and Courtney Allen took sixth in the prelims in a school-record time of 3:39.58. The old record of 3:41.32 was set last year by Diezi, Balcerzak, Lundin and Kelly Igoe. The 200 freestyle relay team of Ashley Mosher, Courtney Allen, Allyson Bowman and Dominique Diezi finished in seventh place this morning in a school-record time of 1:30.78. The old mark of 1:32.02 was set by the relay team of Sarah Randag, Margaret Brandenstein, Melissa Nott and Meredith Booker in 1996. Balcerzak also set a school record in the 200 IM, finishing in 13th during the prelims with a time of 2:00.98. The old mark of 2:01.92 was set last year by Cathy Lundin. Other Wildcat finishes during Thursday's prelims were: 50 free - Courtney Allen (19th, 22.98), Dominique Diezi (25th, 23.13) and Ashley Mosher (23.17)

        200 IM - Cathy Lundin (27th, 2:02.76)
        500 free - Joy Stover (30th, 4:51.70)

    The 200 free relay and 400 medley relay teams will swim in Thursday night's championship finals while Balcerzak will compete tonight in the 200 IM consolation finals.
