    Women's Swim and Dive Team Easily Wins Second Big Ten Meet, 166-96

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern women's swimming and diving team won every event but two in rolling to their second Big Ten win of the season, 166-96 over Ohio State Friday at the Norris Aquatics Center.

    Amy Balcerzak led the way with three wins and Tashy Bohm, Joy Stover and Cathy Lundin each had two. Balcerzak won the 100 breast in 1:03.93, good for an NCAA B cut, the 200 breast in 2:18.83 and the 400 IM in 4:30.97. Bohm took the 100 and 200 back in 58.06 and 2:02.93, respectively and Stover won the 200 (1:53.29) and 500 (5:01.74) free. Lundin captured the 100 fly in 56.55, an also good for an NCAA B cut, and the 200 fly in 2:05.99.

    Other individual winners for the Cats were Brianne Fowles in the 1000 free (10:18.75), Courtney Allen in the 50 free (23.66), Lisa Bushnell in the 100 free (53.04) and Valery Calkins in the 200 IM (2:11.91). NU also took the 400 medley (3:52.04) and free (3:32.45) relays. Julia McDonald took third in the 1-meter diving with a score of 239.03 and second in the 3-meter with a score of 240.15 to pace the Cats.

    The Cats are back in action today, Jan. 24, when they take on Michigan State and Purdue in a double-dual meet at 2 p.m. at the Norris Aquatics Center.
