    Women's Swimming and Diving Splits Double-Dual Meet

    Wildcats Defeat Tennessee but fall to Auburn

    EVANSTON, Ill.- The Northwestern women's swimming and diving team fell to the #9 Auburn Tigers, 205-145, but rebounded to knock off the #13 Tennessee Lady Volunteers, 205-147, in a double dual meet Saturday at the Norris Aquatics Center.

    Joy Stover and Tashy Bohm each picked up wins. Stover took the 1650 free in 16:38.25, good for an NCAA B qualifying standard. She made a B cut in the 500 free as well with a second-place finish in 4:54.96. Bohm won the 200 back in 2:02.57. NU also won two relays as the 200 free relay set a pool record by touching in 1:33.15. The 200 medley relay made an NCAA B qualifying cut with a time of 1:44.67.

    Amy Balcerzak and Dominique each posted a pair of second-place finishes. Balcerzak was second in the 200 breast in a time of 2:19.56 and second in the 100 breast in 1:04.08, good for an NCAA B standard. Diezi made an NCAA B cut in the 100 free in a time of 51.03 and was second in the 100 back in 57.13. Valery Calkins added a second-place finish in the 200 free in a time of 1:51.79 and Ashley Mosher was second in the 50 free in 23.58.

    Northwestern is back in action next Fri., Jan. 23, when they host Ohio State at the Norris Aquatics Center at 6:30 p.m., and Sat., Jan. 24 when they host Michigan State and Purdue, also in the Norris Aquatics Center, at 2 p.m.
