CHICAGO -- One of college softball's first true strikeout aces and Northwestern Athletics Hall of Fame member Lisa Ishikawa (1984-87) is featured as part of an exhibit May 20-24 at the James R. Thompson Center (100 W. Randolph Street, Chicago, IL) celebrating 150 years of Illinois' Asian-American Heritage.

Governor Quinn announced the free exhibit as part of May's Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. Included in the exhibit is a section on Asian-Americans in baseball which prominently features Ishikawa, who is of Japanese-American heritage. She was a three-time All-American for NU who pitched the Wildcats to four-straight Big Ten titles from 1984-87 and led Northwestern to three-straight Women's College World Series from 1984-86. Her pioneering use of the rise ball led to a single-season strikeout total of 469 in 1984 that was the NCAA record for nearly a decade.

After one week at the Thompson Center in Chicago's Loop, the exhibit will move to the State Capitol Rotunda in Springfield for another week. For more information, visit Illinois.gov. To view the full panel on Asian Americans and baseball, click here.
