    EVANSTON, Ill. -- For the first time since winning the championship in 2008, Northwestern will serve as host of the Big Ten Tournament this Thursday through Saturday, May 8-10, at Sharon J. Drysdale Field.

    Action begins with four games in the opening round on Thursday, May 8, before four quarterfinal contests on Friday, May 9. The semifinals and championship game will be played Saturday, May 10.

    The Wildcats enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed and will open at 7 p.m. CT Thursday, May 8, against No. 12 seed Michigan State in the first-ever night game at Sharon J. Drysdale Field. The winner of that game will advance to play No. 4 seed Wisconsin at 7 p.m. CT Friday, May 9. The complete bracket with matchups and game times is available in PDF format at the top of this release.

    Tickets are available now by calling 888-GO-PURPLE (467-8775) or online at NUsports.com. An all-session ticket is $27 for adults and $15 for students, youth and seniors. Single-session (one day) tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students, youth and seniors. Additionally, groups of 15 or more that buy in advance can purchase single-session tickets for just $5 per person.     This year marks the 17th playing of the Big Ten Tournament. NU won the first edition in 1982 and was crowned champion again in 2008, the last time it was played in Evanston. The 2014 edition is a 12-team, single elimination tournament in which the top four seeds receive byes to the quarterfinals. Games on Thursday all will be streamed online via the Big Ten Digital Network while Friday and Saturday contests will be televised live on BTN.
